GO SOX!!!!!!i still can't believe it really happened. i was here in boston as history was made, as the sox broke the curse with the biggest comeback in the history of sports and gave new englanders what they have been waiting 86 years to see. i was out in boston the night it happened and i've never seen so many grown men crying without someone having died. we were in the faneuil hall area, at a sketchy little bar that started out with about 10 people and was packed by the time keith foulke carefully tossed that ball as if it were made of glass for the final out (and like many i was sure he would drop it!). after the screaming and crying and jumping and hugging and champagne spraying, we made our way out onto union street amidst the honking of horns and "woo hoos" and high-fives and hugs from strangers. i'm sure it was nowhere near as chaotic as in the kenmore square area, and wasn't quite as crazy as i thought it would be, but it was still pretty crazy! i think everyone was still kind of in shock tho, afraid to cheer in case it turned out there was some kind of reversed call that would lead to a do-over, or in case we woke up and found out it was all a dream. but deep down we all knew the sox had finally made dreams come true. saturday i headed out to the parade. again, not as insane as i expected, thanks to the city's idea to extend the parade along the charles and spread out the crowds. unfortunately they didn't plan quite as well in the bathroom category, but after a fun little 45-minute chunk of my life lost to the ladies' room line at au bon pain, i was on tremont waiting for the procession with angelica and jim. i had an okay view but i was holding my video camera a few feet above for the money shots. if anyone would like a copy of the video let me know!! i got great close-ups of everything from millar's "st louis got foulked" sign to nelson the magical midget. pictures will be up soon! i promise! saturday nite was jeff's 50th birthday party. he actually was surprised! the look on his face was priceless... so i hope steph got a good shot of it! i've got some good pics up tho!!! and starting with this edition i will be posting the original full-size versions of my photos on ofoto, so if you would like to view and/or print them please contact me for the info... i've got a huge backlog in photos now... because: i'm back from LA!!!! yup, i made it all the way there on my longest flight & first solo one. AND i am almost totally cured of my fear of flying, thanks to a support website and some good drugs. it's very surreal. but i did it! i was out there 11/1-9, did some sightseeing and went to yonny's wedding!! i'm exhausted now so will continue dealing with my 500+ photos tomorrow nite! some of them are up, more to come... read more about fear of flying in the latest say what... |
